Seniors Section

Captain Alan Hobson - 2018

Welcome to all members

We are a section for the over 60’s who enjoy friendly competitive golf both between ourselves and with like minded golfers from other, mainly local clubs and sections. Some of the season’s activities are as follows.

* Please note that the Seniors Spring Texas Scramble & Lunch is now on Thursday 15th February 2018*

Matches with other clubs (home and away).
We have some 32 friendly matches and notices are posted on the Senior Captain’s notice board approximately 4 weeks prior to a match asking for availability. Please enter your name if you would like to play. The chosen team is then posted on the same board about 2 weeks before the game. After each match we all shower and change and stay for the meal that is always laid on. Attendance at the meal is part of the package. You are also expected to be available for both home and away games.

Senior’s Medals
During the season we have 4 individual medals followed by the Senior of the Year medal. The John Alexander Trophy is awarded to the senior with the lowest net score from the aggregate of his best 2 medals and the final Senior of the Year medal.

Seniors invitation day
Invite a senior friend from another club to play with you in a 4 ball better ball for the Ted Hogg Trophy. Followed by prizegiving.

Details of all the above events are posted on the Senior’s notice boards with details of how to enter.

Senior Open events

We have 3 senior open competitions as follows.

The Seniors Open
Played for the Bill Moncrieff Salver, this is an individual medal open to the over 60’s from any golf club. We play in groups of 3, usually with 1 Lansdown member playing with 2 visitors. There are Gross, Nett and Stableford Prizes. We will have special visitors prizes in future.

Team Bowmaker
This is a new competition for teams of 4 Seniors (must be over 60) with the 2 best scores to count on each hole.
At present all Lansdown Senior Competitions are played from the WhiteTees.

Senior Open Competitions at other Clubs
These are a great way to play competitive golf on other local courses. Derek Godwin co-ordinates Lansdown entries.

Please watch the notice board early in the year for the list of Opens and details of how to enter.
